Six people have reportedly died in Fika, Yobe state after an explosion occurred close to a security checkpoint.
The Yobe State Police Commissioner, Marcus Danladi, told PREMIUM TIMES the explosive device that went off was being conveyed in a car to an unknown location when it suddenly exploded. According to Danladi, the car exploded shortly after it drove past a checkpoint.
An officer of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Maiduwa Town, who pleaded anonymity told Channels Television that the bomber boarded a commercial Volkswagen Golf Car with the explosive devices from Fika Town heading to Potiskum, the commercial nerve center of the state.

“The people carrying the bomb inside a vehicle were the people who died,” the police commissioner said. “They came from one of the villages where the insurgents are hiding and the same people carrying the bomb were the same people who died.
“Yobe is calm. There is no problem.”
Just two days ago, an explosion rocked Potiskum, Yobe State, killing one person.
In a related development,the Nigerian Police Force last week, revealed their team during a stop and search disarmed a bomb in Potiskum.
