The Presidency has cleared concerns over the safety of the abducted more than 200 schoolgirls from Chibok, Borno State, saying the Federal Government (FG) has not given up in its attempt to release the girls alive.
Dr Doyin Okupe, the senior special assistant to the President Goodluck Jonathan on public affairs, stated this while speaking on show on Channels Television.
"The issue of the Chibok girls is a national tragedy that must be borne with fortitude. Government has not given up on finding and rescuing the girls," he said.
Okupe said the Chibok girls' situation stays a "major thorn in the flesh of this administration", and guaranteed that the FG would have done anything possible to have them freed if that were possible earlier.
Meanwhile he said the case demands extreme caution to avoid losing the girls while describing the girls' abduction as not the regular incident involving the seizure of one or two persons, later their rescue must be handled with utmost care.
"Any mistake will lead to their death. That is why are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea," he added.
Dr. Doyin Okupe compared President Jonathan with Jesus Christ yesterday, December 15th, after what has come under severe criticisms for this comparing.
