In the last one week, residents in Lagos state have been confronted with the sights of beheaded corpses and dead bodies littering the streets.
Investigations show that last week, two beheaded corpses identified to be a man and a girl was found in the Surulere area of the state while the decomposing corpse of a yet to be identified man was seen in Idi-araba area of the state.
Although corpses which are now common sights on highways are said to be victims of hit and run vehicles, recent investigations has however shown that recent corpses on the streets are not from highway accidents.
One of such mutilated corpses is that of the beheaded decomposing body of a young girl about 15 years old found in a carnal in the Alaka area of Lagos state. It was gathered that the unidentified girl’s corpse had her hand tied to her back and her legs were also tied with rope. Police recovered the beheaded body and took it to the mortuary but it till remains a mysterious occurrence as no one is yet to identify the corpse and why she was beheaded.
While the mystery over the beheaded corpse of the girl is yet to be resolved, residents living in the Idi-Araba area of Lagos state woke up to the sight of another corpse of a man lying in front of the Lagos Univesrsity Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Idi-Araba. It was learnt that the corpse of the man was lying in the open in the pool of his blood for hours before concerned residents used a polythene bag to cover the corpse before the police came to remove it .
In a related development, the police recovered the decomposing head of a man identified as Christmas at the Ebute- Metta area of the state. The police later recovered the mutilated body in Surulere area of the state.
Sources said suspected cultists butchered the deceased and left his body to decompose in different parts of the state but residents ran into the mutilated body and alerted the police.
Police sources said the deceased allegedly belonged to a notorious cult gang in Ebute- Metta area of the state but was allegedly killed by rival gang members battling for supremacy in the area. Before the brutal murder of Christmas, rival gangs allegedly killed one Waheed popularly known as Skippo.
Waheed before his murder allegedly was the leader of the Olokodana gang and residents fingered him in several killings in Ebute- Metta and Otto area of Lagos state.
A resident while reacting to the ugly incident said “ is this because election is around the corner that such ugly thing is happening ? I don’t understand why somebody will kill a fellow human being in such brutal manner and behead her have we gone to the days of ritual murders in Lagos . what crime can a young girl commit to warrant her assailants to chop off her hand? This is the way cultists and ritual killers behave”
Enquiries about the corpses sent to the Lagos state police spokes person DSP Kenneth Nwosu were not replied .
